Pine64 Unveils ALPHA-One Mini PC Featuring Fanless Design

Pine64 has announced the upcoming release of the ALPHA-One, a compact and fanless mini PC designed to deliver robust artificial intelligence performance. The device features a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of providing up to 20 TOPS of AI performance and comes pre-loaded with the 7b Deepseek/Owen Large Language Model (LLM). Pine64 claims the ALPHA-One can process approximately 3.5 tokens per second using this model.
Unlike conventional mini PCs that typically utilize Intel, AMD, or Qualcomm processors, the ALPHA-One is powered by a RISC-V chip, specifically the ESWin EIC7700X processor. This processor includes four SiFive P550 RISC-V CPU cores operating at 1.8 GHz, an Imagination AXM-8-256 GPU, and 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Additionally, the device incorporates a 64 GB eMMC module for storage.
The ALPHA-One is based on the previously introduced StarPro64 single-board computer, combining it with a fanless chassis and enhanced storage capabilities. Future updates are expected to include the integration of a Meta Llama LLM.
Connectivity options for the ALPHA-One are extensive, featuring WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, alongside a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 slot. The device also includes multiple ports: two USB 3.0 Type-A, two USB 2.0 Type-A, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and a microSD card reader. Additional features encompass GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, MIPI-DSI, and MIPI-CSI connectors.
The ALPHA-One is anticipated to retail for approximately $330, although Pine64 has not yet announced a specific release date. For those who may not require the integrated features of the ALPHA-One, the StarPro64 will be available separately for around $250.
